I have multiple EVs at home but without a dedicated charge point installed so I’ve been using the dé EV Charger 3 Pin Plug 3kW Type 2, 7m, 6-13A and it’s made home charging so much simpler. Right away I appreciated the 7-metre cable as it gives me plenty of reach from my outdoor socket to where my car usually sits without having to juggle extension leads or awkward parking. The length is just right for most driveways and garage setups, and it feels robust without being overly bulky.

The charging performance has been reliable and consistent. I generally use it overnight, and even at 3kW it brings my battery up nicely by morning. The 6-13A range gives me flexibility depending on what socket I’m plugging into, and I’ve never felt like I’m pushing the cable beyond what it’s comfortable doing. The app connectivity is a nice bonus too — once paired, I can start, stop, and monitor charging from my phone, which is super convenient if I’m not right next to the car.

I like the carry bag and a super thoughtful addition to the product is a cleaning cloth for if the cable has got dirty or wet so you can clean/dry before putting away.

Overall, this charger strikes a great balance between simplicity and usefulness. It’s not the quickest charger out there, but for daily home charging it’s consistent, solidly built, and easy to live with. If you’re after a straightforward EV charger cable that’s long enough for most setups and offers useful app control, this one has worked really well for me.

Just as good as my other, more expensive, charger

This is my first electric car and I already have an EV charger with it. However, I wanted another one like this as a backup and this does a super job. In fact, it's as good as my original EV charger, which is a lot more expensive.

There aren't any real instructions but they aren't particularly needed if you already know what your doing. It's all pretty self-explanatory anyway to be honest.

The 7 metre cable is the perfect length for me and I assume it would be fine for most people.

There are no issues with compatibility and the charging times are impressive. This charger does it slightly quicker than my other charger. Another reason to be impressed with this.

The little dock to hold it in is really useful and all the items needed to screw it to the wall are included.

There's an app with this charger and I've been using it quite often and it's a smooth experience. No bugs with it or problems connecting. I'd recommend downloading it and using it if you get this EV charger.

The charger works perfectly and the phone app is very useful. i can charge at 1.3Kw which is usually covered by my solar panels, so it saves me money. Thank you.

First class product

Excellent charging cable. Easy to use, works particularly well and with a 15m length it means that I can charge my car outside on my drive

Great value, allows schedule to be set for cheap rates

Easy enough to setup although the instructions don't seem to mention you need to press and hold the A button on the screen for 5seconds to enter pairing mode to connect to the tuya app. But everything else is straight forward.
Display is bright and easy to read. Great that the charging speed can be changed so easily, just use a slider on the app to go from 6amp up to 13amp.

I can thoroughly recommend this charger.

A vast improvement over my previous granny chargers, having had two chargers that suffered water ingress and failed even though they were not used in anything like very wet conditions this charger is IP66 rated and should withstand fairly heavy rain although being a trifle paranoid I have mine encased in a waterproof box which also serves to store the cable. It has many useful features together with a handy app. I would recommend this charger as it also comes in very long cable lengths. Been using for several months now and very pleased with it.

Great Value

I expect many like me already have a Granny Charger and bought this unit for the amazing promise of delayed timed charging and the ability to control it through through the phone App. However, it almost got returned as initially I couldn't pair it. I now see another Amazon reviewer had the same problem, as the instructions say nothing about holding down button A for 5 seconds. I couldn't even see any buttons as I was in a dimly lit garage and they don't light up on the screen, but are faintly printed where the touch area is and my eyes are old!. No contact details are included for help, and contacting the Seller through Amazon was impossible as you just end up on the returns page. However, I found the company on the Depow website and emailed them.
Support got back to me and sent a pdf with updated instructions  which would have saved all the problems! Maybe I'm just a bit dense! Anyway, for those like me, I've put a screenshot of the pdf with this review. It then paired instantly with the phone and home WiFi, when in our drive which is at the oposite end of the house to the WiFi router, at first I thought it wouldn't connect to the App, but a couple of minutes later the phone App connected just fine from indoors. It appears to just use the home WiFi network locally to comunicate, so probably doesn't need web access to be operated remotely. It seemed to only use the Internet for a firmware update when first used, but did give a prompt to proceed.
The App is intuitive and so is the charger, once aware of two buttons! It will be very useful when we need to charge my Wife's car and mine at once, both from the cheap rate, using our 7kw house charger and this unit for a top up. Beware using it at 3kw, UK sockets are only designed to supply 3kw for short periods  to boil a kettle etc. Although this charger can cope, many wall sockets can get very hot (talking from experience!) and possibly catch fire. Cooker sockets are best. Specially if using the delay timer at night, for safely set to 10 Amps (about 2kw) before leaving un attended. On our tarrif we get only 5 hours of cheap electricity, but even set to 10 Amps, that will provide 40 miles range on my Wife's Zoe that does 4 miles per kwh.
This charger is well made, waterproof and great value for money. A wall cradle and charging plug holster are provided, with a peg for looped cable to hang from. This allows it to sit neatly on a wall when stored or charging, but at the same time easily removed to take on a trip in it's bag!
My only criticism is the way it was packaged for shipment, it comes with a good quality zip up case but only slipped into a thin clear polythene bag, this provides no protection from being dropped, which could easily break the screen etc. However I was lucky and mine arrived in good condition.

Seemingly overheating

A nice charger on paper. Good features, app support (although the app is a little clunky, it does the job) and I even got it working with the "Tuya Local" custom integration (make sure it's that one specifically, several with similar names exist and I couldn't get them to work, had to install with HACS).

It can run at 13 amps but I strongly recommend you run it at 10 amps or below at all times. Even with a brand new "EV" style three pin sockets (like I have) they can still get hot.

The Home Assistant functionality is ... okay... not great. I can start a charge, stop a charge, change the amps, check the status. One thing that annoyed me is that I couldn't set up the charging mode. I should be able to tell the charger to turn on the schedule, or charge immediately, or do nothing and let me tell it to charge later. I was able to get the first two working, but not the third mode, and that's the one I really wanted. You can get around this with automations, of course, but that means allowing it to start charging then immediately stopping it, increasing wear on the charger and the car. Not ideal. Setting the schedule in Home Assistant is possible but very difficult as it was just a string of characters ( such as {"m":2,"dt":0,"ss":"23:30","se":"05:30"} which will start at 23:30 and stop at 05:30 ). Workable, but a bit poor in some respects.

However, after a day, the charger was seemingly overheating. Whilst plugged in to the house and car, but not charging, it kept dropping off the wifi network; connecting for a few seconds and then dropping off again. Never getting to the point where it would talk to home assistant. I know the signal is good at its location so that was rather odd. When I went outside to see what was up, I saw the alarming slight of the display flickering and the charger itself was too hot to comfortably touch.

As I type this, we are in the middle of a heatwave and the charger was mounted outside. Maybe it was just getting too warm? I'm not sure. In any case, it needs to be able to work in all weathers, and given how hot everything felt when it wasn't even charging it did put me off a bit. When I unplugged everything, took the charger inside, left it for a few minutes and then plugged it in, inside the house, the display was fine, wifi rock solid, no problems at all. So it was probably the heat.

I am returning the charger to Amazon and will be looking for an alternative.

App doesn't work, cable fine, no smart features

Cable itself is good, app is useless. Apparently will stop charging but can't start charging - have to physically unplug then replug in the cable - can't change the Amperage, I've not even tried scheduling.

As long as you want to plug in the cable and have it immediately charge it's fine, but if you want any smart features I'd avoid this cable.

Very good quality

Genuinely surprised at just how good this charger is.

Recently changed company cars and the new one didn’t come with a granny charger. Tried a more expensive one from Screwfix which was hopeless so took it back and ordered this. I’m so glad I did.

Really easy to use, various charge levels available but I’ve set mine to 13amp and it consistently pulls a 3kw charge which is better than previous OE one I had which was manufactured by Delphi.

This comes with a great little soft carry case that rather brilliantly has a rubberised underside so when it’s laid flat in your boot it stays put and doesn’t go slamming around when you’re cornering etc.

Has app integration so you can remotely start the charging or stop it if needed etc.

For the money I’d be amazed if you can find a better home charger than this that connects to a standard outdoor socket.

Good quality

Way to use. Cable length more than adequate if charging outside your garage.

Very happy with purchase

Fantastic product. Feels very premium. I chose this particular charger due to the app functionality, particularly the start and stop times for charging. I know others have time delay features, but I wanted to ensure I could start and stop charging of my cat during the off peak electricity. I have turned down the charging to 10A as I generally recommended for 3 pin plugs rated at 13A to avoid any kind of overheating. At 10A, the plug does not get very hot at all. Works flawlessly
